Beth took the girls sledding and snow angeling, they had a blast, she then brought them inside and they had cocoa together. Big sisters are awesome. My girls are so blessed by their sisters, and so isn;t this mama.

Three of my grandchildren

Oh yeah take a look and notice part of the kitchen. Everyday when I come home I still ohh and ahh over it, I love it.

Look it's the Christmas Star!!!

WE have been very busy with life in general, but I wanted to share with you all the Christmas star. It was seen hovering over our house and may well be on it;s way to your house......who knows.....somehow I always thought it would look happier.

So Thankfull

We have been re-doing our kitchen and pantry for 3 months. UGH!!! but it will be wonderful once it's done, that being said it has been in a state of tore up now. Last night the make shift counters went along with make shift sink. Today I was making soup and Ava climbed up on the step stool to unplug the shop vac, why I have no idea, but she did. While trying to unplug the vac she had a screw in her you see where I'm going....the screw went up and slightly in the socket and blam there were sparks everywhere. The outlet, plug, wall, screw were all burned but Ava was not. Thank-you Jesus that you protected her. She did a fair amount of crying but mostly from fright then injury. We are so grateful.

Quick update

So this fall has been amazingly busy. Not only did Aaron get married but we tore out the kitchen. We have been in a continual state of construction for 2 months. We will be done with the kitchen by Thanksgiving. I think it looks awesome and can't wait till our countertop is ready then we will be done.
Phoebe is doing great in 2 grade and Elaina is really doing great in 6 grade. Ava and I are going to pre-school everyday and I am learning alo. Honestly it exhausts me, between the teenagers, middle school, elementary and pre-school oh yeah and 2 in college I go to bed wondering if we have accomplished anything or just made it through. I want to be a conqueror; the Bible says we are more than conquerors in Christ, so I need to take my vitamins and get to bed, so I can rise up victorious,,,,,,,,how about you?

Prayer please

We heard from the adoption agency on September 14, we were denied the right to adopt the little boy who we have been paper chasing for. We have been waiting 5 months for approval and,did not get it. To say we are heart broken is an understatement. You know you make plans in your heart and mind to bring them into your family your life and then when it doesn't happen it is difficult. We have prayed for him everyday since first seeing him on the waiting child list February 15 ,7 months of hopeful anticipation. We were going to call him William. We filed an appeal but the agency is not hopeful at all that it will work. So I come asking for prayer, his 5th birthday is this Thursday September 29, please pray that he gets a family for his birthday, he needs one. If it's not us then God is still good but he needs someone to take care of him ,love on him, and let him know how special he is.

I have reched the snapdragon part of my life.........
Part of me has snapped....
And the other part is draggin.

Summer Days...

Ava sitting on a pig at the zoo
Jessica and Bethany at graduation, our 5th child has graduated highschool.
The kids at home on the night of graduation, June 24,2011
Riding a carousel at the zoo. we had a great day at the zoo. the kids enjoyed every thing at the zoo.

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Lately the kids have said some pretty funny/cute things so I thought I would share some....

We were getting icecream cones and Ava asked for a panda footprints kind...hehehe....she meant panda paws.

Our neighbor kids were talking to their Mom and some how our kids came up in the conversation and she told them that the 3 kids were adopted....hmmm....they wanted to know which 3 were adopted? How cute is that? She told them the last 3 kids in our family...which one of the 3 kids? They couldn't even think which one of our girls were not "ours". It blessed my heart, thats a testimony to how they have fit right in here.

Ava gets "really" and "very" mixed up in in...."I very want a drink"......"I very have to go to the bathroom" We corrected her but she still gets then mixed up.

We have had 2 very busy weeks around here but things should start to slow down and be more summer vacation (I hope) we are taking the kids tent camping next weekend and then August will be here and that month will fly.

Hoping evryone has a blessed summer.....

Isaiah 43:1-6

But now , this is what the Lord says-He who created you, Jacob He who formed you,Isreal: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you: I have summoned you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters I will be with you: and when you pass through the rivers,, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire you will not be burned , the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the holy one of Isreal, your Savior: I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. Since you are precious and ,honored in my sight, AND BECAUSE I LOVE YOU.

I will give nations in exchange for you, and peoples in exchange for your life.

Do not be afraid for I am with you ; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. I will say to the north 'Give them up!!!!!'and to the south 'Do not hold them back' "BRING MY SONs from AFAR...............

So what is this all about? We have had some very discouraging news this past week. The little boy we have been trying to bring home, from the Philippines, may not happen. The agency that we have been using had not researched the program very well and now because of restrictions that the PI has had in place since 2009 we are really not eligible to adopt from there. We are devestated we have been praying and working at trying to bring him home for quite some time and now might not happen. Please pray for Gods will in this situation. We would love to bring him home and have him be our son. He is a 5 year old who is hearing impaired and he just needs the love, support and medical help to be the man God created him to be. Our hearts cry is to bring him home.

Also we found out last week that my SIL has cancer, 2 different kinds. This is very difficult on the family. My husband has already lost one sister to cancer and now another one has been diagnosed. Please pray for Deb she needs Gods healing touch and strength for the day.

Quiet House....Is That Possible?

So how can a house with this many people living in it be quiet? Beats me but that is how it has been lately. Matt is out of town for the summer, and Beth was gone on senior trip for the last 4 days. We were able to all fit around the kitchen table for meals and not need extra chairs pulled up. We had grandparents in yesterday and Jess showed up with her kids so that filled us back up again. Dan and I have decided we were not made for an empyt nest. Out hearts and house were made for people, so we say bring em on and bring em in. This fall will be an adjustment as Beth heads off to college and Matt goes back for his 3rd year. We will only have one child playing highschool sports , no more deciding who's stuff to go to , whos' closer who's did we go to yesterday, why Alex will get quite spoiled. (he is already). For 6 years we have had 2-3 kids playing sports of some kind at the same time. So hey think of all the things I should get done and caught up on....yeah right ....who am I kidding?

We have heard that we are under review right exciting.....nerve racking.....we are praying for a positive outcome. And a speedy I eat when I'm nervous.....I really need a speedy decision.....there has not been near enough chocolate in the house since Friday. We will keep praying in faith believing that Our GOD is greater and mightier than any other and HE hears and answers!!!!!!!!AMEN

So where to begin! We have been waiting here for weeks and sometimes months on news of so many different things. Well this past week we have finally been getting some results/answers. So glad for that because I have to admit to worrying over them big time. Not right I know but the honest truth.
Sometimes waiting on God takes a lot longer than I want, and much more patienc/faith. But God is faithful and forgiving. So what has been happening....hmmmm?
We recieved Elainas' Certificate of Citizenship YEAH!!!!!! We applied for this in the begining of January and waited and waited and waited some more. She knew we had applied for it but then I had not said much after mailing out the application. I had thought that we would surprise her with it when it finally came. So every day I watched and waited. We recieved a letter telling us that our petition was approved and as soon as we mailed in her green card they would send us the certificate. Dan and I were thrilled. I mailed out what they wanted the next day and then we waited some more. Everyday I checked the mail in case it was there. One time Elaina even asked if it had come. Well last Thursday it arrived.(can you hear the hallelujah chorus here?) We then decided to surprise her with it on Easter. What perfect timing , I called my sil and she made a red/white/blue decorated cake for us. We had 35 people in for Easter dinner and when the kids went out for the egg hunt, I switched a table cloth to a flag one brought out the cake and put her certificte on an easel and surprised her when they all came back in the house. How fitting that Christ died so we can be citizens of heaven and now Elaina is also a citizen here in the good ol USA. We were so blessed to have it in hand. It is finished she has her paperwork all done after being home for 10 years we completed the last step. What a great feeling that is.

The other thing we have been waiting on is our dossier going to the Philippines. This process has been so much longer than I ever imagined. But it looks like this coming Friday it should be sent. The last piece is on it's way to our agency.

We had 2 weeks of Easter vacation and I went with Bethany on 3 college visits. WHEW#### She has been accepted at all three we just went to check them out and get a feel for where Beth would want to go. She has her pick and now we are trying to come up with money (she doesn't even feel nervous about money). So we are praying and looking and seeing what needs to be done. But I have already done finacial aid for Beth and matt and we were pulled for varification(again) and I have those forms all done and sent back to each school, so I'm keeping up. We only have like 8 weeks of school left. Matt is done in 3 weeks so things are winding down.

And today we went back for Phoebes post op appointment and got very She passed her hearing tests in the normal range. YEAH!!!! Her ears have healed up and she is hearing, so we will continue on with speech . She has healed completely from the broken collarbone incident also.

Have a Blessed day. Christ has risen just like He said He would!!!!!

God is GOOD...

" how beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news." Isaiah 52:7a This week has truly been a week for some good news. We are once again moving on the adoption ,our paperwork is back at the agency with all the right seals, stamps and approvals. Breathing a sigh of relief. they will assemble it and be sending it to the Philippines. Hang on little man we working hard to bring you home. Also after being home for 10 years we had applied for Elainas' citizenship. Hallelujah!!!!! It has been approved. we will be getting the certificate in the mail. we haven't told Elaina yet because I am planning on surprising her with it. I am trying to decide how to do it. I am sooooo happy about this. What a relief to have this done. My girl is such a blessing and now we have finished the last peice of adoption paperwork for her. ************THANK YOU GOD YOU ARE SO GOOD TO US**************************

This and that...

UGHHH!!!!!!! is winter ever going to end?

There that's out of the way

Phoebe started back to school today. She is doing much better, only needs pain medicine in the morning and before bed, so definately better. Her speech on the other hand is ...eek..not good. Right now the tone of her voice is even different than before. Not sure if that is typical but it is at a much higher pitch than ever. Her hearing is definately way better. But her words, not so much. Because her throat hurt so bad she started talking without moving her lips, mouth, tongue, so her word formation is not right. Hopefully this is a temporary problem. Her speech teacher will be shocked, I think.

We had 3 inches of snow last night....i am so ready for spring...outside...fresh air....this winter has been a long one.

This morning I watched the end of Toy Story 3 with Ava. Not going to lie I cried. Not because of Andy leaving but because Beth graduates in 3 months. The time has flown by. She has become a beautiful young women. We are so proud of the person she has become. As parents we try to raise them to be caring, responsible, hard working, and with a desire to serve Christ, and here we are at her launching time and I'm not ready. She has 2 college options and she is still not settled on what or where. We are praying that she will know that she knows. The picture is Alex and Beth at the Christmas concert. This coming Wednesday Beth is turning 18, I can't beleve it. She was always so full of life and very outspoken, you never had to wonder what she was thinking, because she has freely shared her opinion (much like her father). She is looking into business as a major but I can't see her at a desk, she is very much a people person. She is also looking into x-ray tech and ultra sound tech I can totally see her doing that she is such a people person.

Anyhow enough of my ramblings. There must be somthing I should be doing.

bake: 45 minutes or until golden brown

serve warm with whipped topping

Our Confinement...

Well so far ..pretty good. The first day was definately the best so far. Yesterday was rough, she had a lot of throat pain and is barely talking, but it will get better. Today she woke up crying again but it didn't last too long. She still needs pain meds every 3-4 hours and plenty to drink.
So we our going to the library this morning to get new books, movies and magazines. That is another positive to this confinement I am reading; because I have the time. And that is wonderful. So that being said the book I stayed up reading until midnight (yeah I did) I highly recommend if you are looking for a fun light hearted read
" The Pioneer Woman, from black heels to tractor wheels" go ahead and get it you won't be disappointed. As a wife and mother it was too real and funny. I'm giving it to my daughter to read before I take it back to the library.
The other thing I'm doing is cooking/baking. And the dessert I made last night was AWESOME!!! i will put the recipe up it was easy and delicious

Rhubarb Dump Cake
4 cups rhubarb chopped
1/2 cup sugar
1 pkg 3 oz strawberry jell-o
1 pkg white cake mix
1 cup water
1/3 cup melted butter

Surgery update...

Well I am happy tp post that phoebes' surgery went very well. Praise the Lord!!!! Today we are home resting, at least that's the idea. We got the call to show up an hour earlier so we scrambled to get everything around and left the house. Which was good because it cut down on last minute anxiety. We got there and Dan dropped the 2 of us off and took Matt to college. we went right in and they started prepping her right away (although surgery was 2 hour past that). They gave her the "special pink" medicine and it was quite amusing watching her. She , could barely lift her head off the bed and then she would slide back down in the bed and start the process all over again, at one time she got the gigles...we taped this on Dan's was quite funny....she would crook her index finger and say" come here I have a secret" and then when we leaned in close just start to giggle...and at one point she looked at Dan and said "there are two of you one big and one little". She was almost already asleep when they rolled her away. The surgery took an hour and then she was back.
She really struggled with waking up the first time, she was in full panic was very difficult to watch her be so frantic. the nurse actually came in and gave her the medicine through the IV again to calm her down. We watched her "sleep" it was sad, while she was out she went back to the keening sound she would make when we first came know the kind for self soothing...that low in the throat noise. Dan and I were both surprised she could still do many memories locked away. Anyhow when she came around the second time it was our girl...she was ready to recover.
We stayed 3 hours and then could bring her home. The ride home was good she was very reserved. We got home the other kids gave her the attention she needed and she settled in for the night. Around 10 pm she wanted to know what was for dinner...umm you had it remember the jell-o? The popsicle? Nope she wanted to chew and swallow...NOT ALLOWED.
This morning she got out the mac and cheese and wanted it, not for breakfast but for lunch, she is now counting down the time till lunch. Such a funny kid, but because she is doing so good I will let her have it.
She has already done 6 pages of her school work this morning. She has done amazingly well ;the Drs. had us scared about her recovery but so far so good. She is quite the little trooper. She is home for awhile so we will need to keep her busy so she doesn't over do which would be her tendency, lot's of movies and coloring and some craft projects, plus books lot's of books.

Psalm 20

1May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May He send you help from the sanctuary and grant you
support from Zion.
3 May He remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings.
4 May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
5 May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.
6 Now this I know:
The Lord gives victory to his annointed. He answers him from His heavenly
sanctuary with the victorious power of His right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God!!!!
8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.
8 Lord, give victory to the KING!!!! Answer us when we call.

We recieved Phoebes' surgery date it will be March 21. Please pray for her. Sheis having her tonsils and adnoids out and tubes put in her ears. We are happy to finally be getting this all taken care of.

Rant.....ignore if you want to...

So yesterday while I was volunteering at my kids school, there was a discussion about the pee wee league football program. I was only partly paying attention because we don't participate in this activity. And the other Mom quite boldly said the big reason that this football program wasn't "growing" was because the parents were LAZY what ? I tried to be nice and let it go, but then I couldn't I looked at her and told her I took offense to that comment. We have never done it wouldn't do it but that did not make me LAZY!!!!!!
Now if you do fine for you but that's not the point the point is what an awful thing to say about other parents. We're lazy because we don't want to run our 1st grader to night practices 4 times per week, and play games on every Sunday in the fall. Excuse me we attend church and try to spend time as a family because the week is so crazy we need a day. I told her it was too time consuming and expensive and maybe not everybody wants to play football. Ever think of that? Well my dander was up not gonna lie. You can say alot about me but lazy isn't one of them and to just geralize everyone into that excuse was crazy. We allow our kids to play soccer, basketball, they do choir, band, afterschool clubs, youth group, 4-H and numerous other things don't tell me I deny them; so not true!!!! Since when do they get to do everything they want and that I'm a bad parent for not allowing them to do whatever they want. Hello if they want to do drugs we should allow it, support the habit per chance? Come on people wake up, your the parent not activities director for your childs every whim.
Ther I'm done now, i feel better. Please i meant no offense to footballl families (because we are a soccer family) just don't judge other parents choices.

Now have a great day

Here are a few pictures of Ava wearing her new au dai. Aileen sent this to us and it is just beautiful. It has some glitter and embroidery detail
Ava was the ultimate model; she is quite the ham. Beth took the pictures and she did a great job I think.
We are in sectional play for boys basketball, going to a game tonight. And we are not taking the younger ones with us. YEAH Their grandma is coming to watch them; this is a real treat for us. We don't mind taking them but it will be older kids only and sometimes that is nice;)

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Quick Update

So it has been seriously crazy around here. We have finished regular season basketball and are now in sectional play. Beth's team won their first game and play again tomorrow night and Alex was pulled to varsity so he has his first game tonight. Both teams have had a great season. It has cerainly made the winter fly going to games 5 nights a week. We had a little taste of

last week just enough to help get through the next few weeks of winter. It was up to 50 degrees last Thursday and Friday. While it was nice I cleaned up the basement and cleaned out some closets. I was going to wash blankets but figured that would be jumping the gun just a little.

We have burned through this years wood supply. We usually have 4-5 cord of wood to carry over but not this year. Dan keeps counting what is out there and then dividing it by weeks of winter left. Not to worry I say.....we always have the furnace ;)

Settling In.....And Birthdays

The pictures above are Phoebe: she just had her birthday and turned 7 years old
Then Alex at his birthday, he turned 16 years old
And Ava at her 4th birthday....they are all growing up

So we are bracing ourselves for a winter is almost every where else. We went and picked up a few supplies only the essentials you know.....mountain dew, milk, bread, sugar so I can bake cookies. So bring on the snow (can't stop it anyhow) we are ready,,,seriously.

We had a big day today...guess if you can...a REALLY BIG DAY!!!!

And in other news Ava had her first day of pre-school. Yep 5 months late start but finally going. She did great, the teachers said it was like she has always been going, no problem. She spelled her name and learned the letter "N" and made a groundhog. I don't think pontsitony Phil will be seeing any shadow tomorrow, I doubt he will come out of the imaginary hole in the ground. Hibernation.

Monday, January 24, 2011

Well today was a big day we finally mailed in Elainas' citizenship paperwork. After 0ver 9 years we have done the last step for Elaina. I am relieved/nervous. hoping that I did it right and included everything that needed to be included. So we shall wait and see if I did it right.

On to other things, last week was a wash I was sick. So nothing was done. I am determined to get things caught up and done. We are very cold right now this morning it was 30 below zero. YIKES!!!! that was cold. Not trying to rush anything here but I'm waiting on spring.

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

So I'm back. No I didn't go anywhere but the computer did. We got a nasty virus in the comp[uter and it had to go , to the electronics Dr.. So we had a wonderful Christmas holiday and new year. We were so blessed to have our children all home on Christmas night. We opened gifts ate food and laughed. It was truly a blessed time for me.
We are back into regular play. So there you have it the reason I don't blog that often....we are too busy doing.
